Evening of Life depicts a branch of a Chinese Pistache tree in the transition phase of senescence - when the leaves change color. Illuminated by the evening light in late fall, it symbolizes the coming to an end of an age. But all is not lost, nor hopeless, as we know new leaves will grow in the spring, nourished by the very same light. Likewise, we can have hope as we come to our own evening of life. When our bones grow frail and our minds weak, and the light goes dim in our eyes, we too can have hope. Not in reincarnation, but in The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our light, our source of strength, and in him we can have newness of life - on this side of heaven and the next.
