This Image carries a parallel to the Christian life. Scripture says when we are joined with Christ in faith, we are born again - the old has passed away and behold the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) In this cicada I see a small glimpse in a physical sense of what happens in the spiritual sense to all Christians. The old body seen dead, and new life coming forth out of it. Not the same, but with greater ability; gifts of the Spirit.
